baby's first tooth VERY odd location, worried

So Castalia is 2.5 mo corrected and we noticed her first tooth is poking out but Im kind of worried as it is on the side of her mouth (on top) but instead of coming out from the gumline it's coming out on top/side of the guline, it's very odd...anybosy has ever hear of that? Could it me some kind of malformation. She was a30 weeker with an esophageal atreasia, ROP(3), VUR(3), IVH(3), PDA, umbilical hernia and has GERd (gee that's long! Maybe any of these might be related, not sure...

Im freaking out, and fell robbed yet again as this cool milestone should be a happy moment but instead Im worried...

Re: baby's first tooth VERY odd location, worried

  • Is it possible that it is some sort of sore or cyst?  From the picture, it looks like she has the bumps on gums (on the right spot) directly below the "tooth" that appear to be teeth ready to break through the gums.  Either way, I'd probably find a pediatric dentist to take her to--some dental x-rays will help figure out what is going on.

  • I agree with Brainy.  I would either take her to the reg pedi and have them refer you if needed or contact a pedi dentist on your own.  I'm sorry that you have something new to worry about :(
  • DS had something similar and it was an epstein pearl.  It went away on it's own.  I would check with the pedi to be sure, but it probably isn't anything to worry about.

  • Epstein pearl was that hard and felt like a tooth? Because this is definately hard...

  • Ds had what I thought was a tooth but it was actually a "calcium deposit" that went away. Also, I have an adult tooth that came out from the top instead of the bottom. It is no big deal. I wouldn't start worrying yet.
