Infertility

Here's a question.

I found out Friday that my testosterone levels are really high. and so I was doing a little research trying to learn a little more about this and treatments and what not.. and I came across this... they say that if women have high levels of testosterone in their body they are more prone to have sons instead of daughters... but I don't get this because the sex of the baby is determined by the SPERM..  (The mothers egg only has the x chromosome, and there are sperms that include either x or y chromosomes.. therefore the sex of the baby depends on whether the sperm fertilising the egg contains an x or y chromosome).

Am I missing something?  or are they wrong?  Im pretty sure it is a credible source.

Re: Here's a question.

  • I'm not very good with science and this is just a guess (I'll Google in a second), but what if when a woman has elevated testosterone, her body more willingly accepts male sperm?  Did they say exactly how much more likely they are to have boys?
  • Loading the player...
  • that's what i was thinking too.  I haven't really gotten very far at researching this.... I was just dumbfounded.
  • Okay, I read a bit about it.. :)  The theory is that women with more testosterone produce eggs that are more likely to accept male sperm.  Fascinating.
