So it has been a while since my last post (it's been a hectic month w/ a very hectic move going on) and it feels wierd to be a "toddler" now But anyway, my 1st post back is unfortunately not a glamerous one....while changing my daughter earlier today I noticed that she has tiny, very light blonde pubic hair! She is 12.5 months. I have no idea how long it has been there, it is very light so I could have been missing it for a while I think...Can this be normal? Upon further inspection I noticed similar hair on her upper lip, upper arms and back. A quick google search tells me it can come when a baby is on steroids for some reason. Hadley hasn't been. So oh wise ladies of the bump, is this cause for alarm or will my new pedi laugh me out of his office if I call about this?
Thanks in advance and a belated happy 1 year to all the July babies!
Re: Q about girly parts
are you sure its not just normal body hair? DD has the hairiest legs i have ever seen on a baby and even has a very fine blonde mustache. she is pretty much covered in blonde hair everywhere.
unless it is long and course like adult pubic hair - its probably just regular body hair and nothing to be worried about. but i have heard of babies developing pubic hair because of a hormonal imbalance. in fact, i'm pretty sure there was a nestie that had a son with this issue.
That's the thing, how do I know if it is "normal" is texture the defining charecteristic? I don't think I would think anything of it if it wasn't in her private area. My 1st thought was hormone imbalance but who knows, maybe I am just paranoid....
sorry, i should have defined 'normal'. by normal i meant - something like the texture of your arm hair, noticable but soft to the touch and generally straight.
i wouldnt freak, just bring it up at her next normal pedi appointment. trust me, i doubt they will laugh at you. stranger things have happened!
