Colace question....

Hi girls....

To save myself a phone call to my doctor, I thought that I would ask you.  Many of us have that lovely constipation due to our prenatal vitamins....and after speaking to my doctor, she states that I am able to take a stool softener (such as Colace), but not a laxative.  Well, I bought a generic Colace and the bottle says "stool softener laxative".  I'm assuming that a stool softener is considered a type of laxative?  Thank you for your help!

I'm taking Colace (docusate sodium.) They don't want you to take any stimulant laxatives, but stool softeners are OK. I'm not sure if my bottle just says stool softener or stool softener laxative.

You might just check the active ingredient to make sure it's docusate sodium and nothing else, but Colace is safe to take.

Just make sure to either keep up or increase your fluid intake so that it will work.
