I don't know why but I kept putting off getting the Baptism set up. I finally called and got things set up, and now of course there is a big waiting list. They will be Baptized on October 4th, when they will be almost 6 months old. It didn't really bother me at all, but several family members have made 'comments' about why we waited so long. All in all, we really don't care what other people think, I guess I just didn't think it was that out of the norm to have a Baptism around 6 months old. Just curious when others had their Baptisms or Christenings.
Re: How old were babies when you had them baptised/christened?
My girls, depending on their birth, will be baptized when they're about a month old (my DH's brother is actually a priest!!). But I remember my little brother wasn't baptized until about 9 months old.
I asked my brother in law about the baptismal age--his response was "whenever the parents want" and said there was no time frame to go by.

Well, here I am a yr later and the boys are still not baptised. Since I had preemies I couldn't take the boys out when they got out of the NICU. Then RSV season started and then by the end of RSV season we had the flu season which started late in NY. Then during the summer, we had surgeries and other illnesses. Now we have to ask for permission from our local church to have the boys baptised at my DH church. I'm sure by the time everything gets settle its gonna be RSV season again. I'm trying for September but its up to the church, so we'll wait and see. Also, don't worry about what other people think, unless they are helping you w your LO's and paying your bills.?
GL!?
Thanks for asking! I am doing MUCH better! Early on I was having some crazy postpartum emotions and hormones going on. The first 3 weeks were pretty hard. My H went back to work after a week and that was rough. I'm finally getting into the groove of things and now I have to go back to work on Friday.
I'm dreading it. So, a new thing for me to work through. I'm just going to take it one day at a time. thanks again for asking how I am doing. Sometimes I feel like everyone IRL just asks about the babies and they forget about mom & dad! Oh and btw my name is Stephanie.
Mine were about 4 months old when we did it bc of sickness and holidays we waited.
People who make those kinds of comments have no idea how crazy life is with multiples.
My boys were 6 months old exactly.
I wanted them to be baptised when they were either 3 month or less, but because the godparents weren't available and then mother's day came & father's day - the first availablity to schedule everyone was June.
It was hot in the church and it was hot holding the babies that long in their outfits - it was just hot.
Same thing happened with my DD i wanted her baptized in May - she wasn't done until July because of scheduling the godparents.
But in the long run - everything went fine and it was a special day - which is what important!
Our 1st was 2 months old and our 2nd was 2.5 months old. I don't think 6 months old is bad at all. My little brother was about 4 years old when he was baptised! And, of course, there are plenty of adults who choose to be baptised later in life. Our 1st had 3 godparents in following with my husband's very traditional Lutheran background. Our 2nd also had 3 godparents, but they weren't "officially" recognized by the Methodist church we were attending.
Certain denominations don't even believe in baptising infants because they believe adults should make the decision when they are ready to truly "come to Christ". Instead, they have dedications. Although I have always wanted my babies baptised, I can see where that thought makes sense too, because I believe in the Bible it was all adults who got baptised.
Anyway, can you tell we've talked about this a lot over the years?? : ) It's such a personal and special thing, don't let anyone make you feel bad about it!
