If you use wool come in...

Who do you recommend to buy soakers/shorties/longies from?  And post what you love/hate about wool.  And your care routine.  I need the recs, but would also like to help anyone who needs more info on wool as well.  Smile

Re: If you use wool come in...

  • I have sbish and monkeysnuggles. I like both, but I love the sbish. I reach for it all the time and the MS hardly ever. I'm a fan of interlock, not knitted wool.

I use a routine Glad told me about. I take a pea sized amt of lanolin and heat it in a mason jar. Add a little baby wash (CA Baby) and hot water and shake, shake, shake. I then add that to a sink full of tepid water. Then, I add the woolies and work the wash through them. I sometimes add a little extra lanolin to the "wet zones". I let them soak for about an hour. Then I drain, squeeze out excess water, roll them in a towel, and hang to dry. We only wear wool a few times per week. I only wash when they get dirty.

  • Love wool.  As for recommendations, I have an aristocrats soaker for nighttime, which I LOVE (well worth the $$), a monkey snuggles soaker for daytime, shorties from happybumbaby for lightweight daytime (summertime), and a pair of longies I got for free from a nestie.  I love all my wool.  I have only had leaks once or twice, but I think that was more of the diaper that he was wearing. I haven't tried any interlock. (both monkeysungglesdiaper and happybumbaby are on etsy, and both reasonably priced).

My routine is pretty much the same as babyluv.

  • I've made most of my wool...but I've started buying some too.  I like monkeysnuggles but they stretch out badly, and didn't go back to their original size.  I have found my crocheted ones don't stretch like that.  They don't have as much stretch overall, but I have still been using the same soaker for months now.

I just got my first interlock today and like it's texture.  I ordered some Sbish too, so I will have a review shortly.  I have a couple of recycled sweater ones that are nice for daytime, but kinda thin for night.

As for routine, it's the same as babyluv except I just put the lanolin in a waterproof container with hot hot water and a small amount of soap and shake.  I also put my wool in the washer for a spin cycle to get out the moisture...that cuts about a day off of drying usually.
