Sleeping no-no?

We've been using the PNP at night w/ us and he sleeps great in it, but for some reason when it's light out doesn't want to be in it or the crib. DH started putting a blanket down on the sofa and letting him nap there while we're watching tv...conks right out. Is this a SIDS no-no if we're sitting right there next to him? I know they say not to let them sleep on soft surfaces, but is the risk w/ sofas that they'll roll into the cushions?

Right or not, we do it. We make sure someone is in the room at all times. We probably won't do it once she can roll over. She also sleeps on her belly when shes on the couch.

I think if you're right next to him then it shouldn't be a problem.
