Birthing Ball ?

The "Wow" post made me remember.  Are these just the same thing as the exercise balls that you get in the sporting goods section?  What size are they?  Also, for those that have used them to spin their babies would it be a one size fits all for this?  (I wouldn't have two frank breech babies, right?  which is why I'm thinking this.)

Re: Birthing Ball ?

  • Yup, we got a largish one from amazon.com. ?Just a plain sports one. ?Go by weight for sure. ?My labor went too quickly to use it, so now Caedan loves it lol

  • Yep!  They are awesome!  For the longest time I actually sat on my ball instead of a regular chair because it was the only thing that would work for my back.

But then my cute 6 yr old popped it.  Trust me...it takes a LOT of effort to break it but he managed.

I have another one but we need to get it filled and never seem to remember.

  • Yep, I bought mine at Target. It's just a regular yoga/exercise ball. I LOVED mine during labor.

Bonus is that I also used it for the first 4ish months after DD was born. She was refluxy/colicky and hated to rock...but loved to bounce. So we bounced...a LOT :)

  • Thanks, I'll look at Target tomorrow.  DS will fall asleep to bouncing when he's up way too late (remember those couple weeks he was up until 3 or 4?) but I've had to do it on the edge of my mattress which isn't the best bounce.  Glad to know how handy it is and what to look for.
  • it was the most use my "exercise" ball had ever seen. i used it a lot in my 3rd tri to move my guy from transverse and then from breech. i sat on it watching TV, surfing, etc. and then i used one at the hospital that had an awesome chair thingie on it so it didn't roll.?

My weenie dog popped mine *sigh*

  • Our Bradley teacher said just to get an anti-burst exercise ball, and that 65 cm was a good size.
