Ear tubes?

so, e had Max's 15 month appt and he has another double ear infection and it's time to see he ENT for the hearing test, and consult. at this point i would be upset if he did not want surgery, I am ready to be done w/ infections and I am hoping that if we get that all cleared up he will start eating better...

He is down in the % again, we are now at 2% for weight, the dr is not really too concerded w/ his weight at this point, so no FTT dx. but I think we are both hoping to see a nice gain once he is free of infections.

anything y'all think I should know before we see the ENT and questions I should ask?

Re: Ear tubes?

  • Good luck. Adam got tubes right after his birthday and the surgery was a breeze. I will tell you that he still gets infections, but now the fluid drains out and he gets antibiotic ear drops, which are way better than oral antibiotics. We're very much in the minority though - most people say that after tubes, no infections!

  • DD is getting tubes next week.

When we did our consult I felt like it was a colossal waste of time.

The Dr. basically took her history, looked in her ears and said it was up to us to decide. I was like WTF? I didn't pay you to let me decide. I wanted him to say "Yes, she needs tubes" or 'No, she doesn't" KWIM? So be prepared that really don't give you much guidance.

So, DD got another ear infection (#7) so we scheduled the surgery.

I will admit I am a nervous wreck about the surgery. So, I hope it goes as easily as everyone says it does.
