2nd Trimester

Poll: what are you doing to pamper yourself?

As wondrous as this "miracle of life" is, we all know that sometimes pregnancy sucks.

SO: what are you doing to pamper yourself over these nine months and keep yourself comfy?

Me: I am commited to getting a massage at least once/month and I will start getting pedicures in the fall when it's harder to reach my feet. :0

I am also treating myself to a couple of nice-ish maternity items, like a fabulous pair of jeans. I figure the cuter I look, the better I'll feel.

So what are you guys doing for yourselves?

Re: Poll: what are you doing to pamper yourself?

  • Hmmm.... nothing.  I need to do something about that.
  • Loading the player...
  • i wish i could pamper myself, but saving for maternity leave makes that not possible :(

  • Ummm, moving....

Nothing I guess. Oh well I feel good for the most part, so I guess I don't feel the need for much pampering. If we had the money though I would probably make sure I got regular massages.

  • Baths and retail therapy. Smile
  • Sleeping in, getting a massage next week.
  • I figure since I dont spend any extra money on makeup, gambling, drinking, - things that others do I can at least spend a decent amount on a nice haircut so I've been doing that.  And I have bought a few nice/cheap shirts to wear for maternity clothes but other than that it's same old same old.
  • I hope to get a few pedicures. I will let DH try once, but his fine motor skills really preclude me having anything but 10 pink blobs on the ends of my feet after he is done.
    .
  • prenatal massage every once in a while, mani/pedi's every 2 weeks, cute comfy shoes and pretty maternity items, we have also been splurging on things that make me feel better like nice dinners and shopping Wink

  • My daily afternoon naps.?

I really wanted to also do this, but laying on my stomach is really uncomfortable.  Do they have a cut out for our belly?

Aside from that, I've been cleaning my house like crazy! I know it doesn't sound like a blast, but I love it. Aside from that, bubble baths are my favorite! Oh, and I let my hubby massage me as often as his hands can handle.

  • Tomorrow my friend and I are getting pedi's. Yeah!

  • I'm about to leave work 1.5 hours early.  I feel like crap and I'm tired.

    Does that count?

  • DH got me a gift certificate for a prenantal massage for my bday so I'm doing that in a couple of weeks. I'm going to treat myself to a pedicure before a friend's wedding labor day weekend and other than that not much. Can't really afford to do much. Saving for maternity leave and we just redid our kitchen.

Same here, I am trying to save every penny so I can take 3 months off unpaid.  DH promised me he would paint my toes when I can't do it anymore.  Big Smile

  • Just keeping up with the normal pampering!  When I can't reach my feet I'll get biweekly pedicures.  I will be making an appointment to get my hair highlighted/cut as soon as I decide if I want to get a trim or cut 10-12 inches :)

  • I got a massage on our a cruise a few weeks ago :-).  I got my first pedicure in months last weekend and plan to treat myself to one at least once a month from here on out.
  • not really anything to be honest.  I dont feel like I need pampered.  DH gives great massages, that pretty much makes me happy!

  • hmm...spending lots of time in the pool is on my agenda for later in the pregnancy. last time i spent all weekend, every weekend in the pool b/c it was the only place i was comfortable. this time it will be a little more challenging b/c of dd, but dh is really good about taking her and letting me relax when i need to.
  • I sleep in. I'm not really big into pedis or massages. I just go for a pedi once a month to get my toenails cleaned up and polished.

  • Nothing out of the ordinary. Just the occasional bubble bath.

Although...I did buy 2 pairs of summer sandals at Payless yesterday for $7 each.

  • Buying a few nice pairs of maternity pants/jeans from Gap that I can wear with cheaper shirts from Target or ON and getting pedicures.
  • Massage every other week (most of it covered my extended medical), prenatal yoga, as much sleep as I can handle, pedicure at least once a month, buying fresh cherries even when they are not cheap.
  • mostly just sleeping a lot so far lol. But shopping, taking baths, avoiding non-essential house chores and eventually I plan to get a prenatal massage or two.
  • I had my first pedicure few weeks ago and decided was going to be a regular thing for the rest of the pregnancy. Also just being lazy in general between my hernia and now my siatica I am pretty much in constant pain.  So I am trying to do little here and little there but can't seem to keep up right now with house cleaning, laundry, and cooking but for once I have a good excuse for why it isn't getting done.
  • I get my hair washed, deep conditioned, and blown once a week. I also get mani and pedi's twice a month. These are all the things I did before pregnancy. I hope to tone down on shopping and be able to save more money before the LO arrives.
  • I'm also getting massages once a money.

I'll get pedis when I need to start doing that.

I've splurged on a couple clothing items, and they really do make me feel a lot better.  I've actually learned that buying things that are maternity really DO look better on you when you're preg than clothes that aren't maternity.  :)

I also plan on purchasing a few cute pairs of flats in the coming months once my feet swell too much to wear heels.

  • While the spendy stuff is fun, I don't think you need to actually spend money to do a little extra special stuff for yourself.

I've been trying to take the time to just rest and relax.  We have a nice covered swing in our backyard by the pond, and I try to take some extra time to relax out there with a book, even if I should be doing something more productive.

That said, I'd love to get a manicure/pedicure.  Never had either one.

  • I take baths and naps regularly. Today i'm going to give myself a mani/pedi, although i'm not sure how that's going to go because 4 weeks ago when I gave myself a mani/pedi it was hard to maneuver around the belly and i have definitely grown since then. I have also splurged on fabric to make myself some maternity clothes. I would love to get regular massages, but it's just not in the budget right now.

  • I love this poll!

I have accupuncture about once a month and will add prenatal massage as needed (same practitioner).

My main luxury is napping and sleeping late.  Not only is it free, it's heaven, especially when my partner takes our daughter for fun adventures and I have the whole afternoon to myself.

Once the belly is actually baby and not pudge, I plan to buy a cute shirt every month or so, just to keep some variety.  It really does help to look cute, and since this is my one and only pregnancy I want to enjoy that part of it!

One more... whenever possible, I dip my toes in cool water.  Even the kiddie pool is just lovely.
