Re: here is a thought WDYT?
I started thinking about that too!! Your not crazy!
I'm going to register for diapers and see how many packs I get at my shower. Then after that I should have plenty of time to work on stocking up on what I didn't get.
If you want to buy them, I say go for it!
Maybe a touch on the early side, but prudent especially if it is a good price!
I'd say go for it if you have the space and already know what you prefer.
I heard this as a suggestion, and it sounds like a really good idea.
Everytime you go to Target/Walmart/Jewel (wherever you buy diapers) put $10 on a gift card (the same one every time). Put that aside for diapers so you won't have to guess on sizes and brands, but you still have that money put aside for diapers!
smart!!!
I've purchased a few packs here and there but if I were you I would buy the larger sizes because when it comes time to get things from other people (like at your showers) they will buy the small diapers instinctively.
Just my opinion. Certain places like Walmart will let you exchange sizes too so if you have too many of one size and baby gets bigger, you can exchange for a larger size.
This is what I was going to say! My MIL is doing this for us I'm super excited about it
I just wouldn't open any of them. You never know what brand or type or size you'll need once the baby gets here.
My DS skipped totally over newborn (we gave away about 100 or so diapers that dh's work gave us opened) and went straight to size 1. He then went to size 2 swaddlers at 1 1/2wks old. And at 5wks we had to switch him to Pampers Baby Dry size 2 b/c the swaddlers were leaking something horrible. Now we're good for now. I ended up returning some huggies and swaddlers so far. I have another box of swaddlers I need to take back to BRU to get some Baby Dry diapers.
Ditto the gift card. Setting aside the money to soften the blow = great idea. Actually buying the diapers is less of one - you don't know what sizes you will need and you don't know what will work best and having to find receipts and exchange a bunch of diapers is a hassle.
If you absolutely will do this, tape the receipts to the package of diapers so you don't lose them.
