does DC ever space out?

Does you LO ever seem to space out? Like if your talking to him/her and they just look blank for a few seconds. DS does this when he's tired or just woke up from nap. I never thought anything of it as I figure we all space when we're tired. My mother however keeps bugging me to ask the pedi about this saying she thinks its weird.

  • And your mom never spaces out? LOL Yes, DD and DS space out all the time. Especially, like you said, if they are over tired or just wake up. I space out too in those situation.

  • Not regularly, but once in a while she does. I wouldn't be too concerned unless there are other behaviors that are worrisome, too. I space out once in a while...don't you? ;)

  • Yes, he does it when he's in a crowd. He does it at his swim lessons a lot. I think he gets overstimulated and can't seem to focus on one thing when there's so much going on. I've never thought it was abonormal at all.

  • yes! but i can always snap her out of it and then she smiles at me.  so i'm not worried.

Yeah that's what I told her. She kept going on about how she doesn't remember me ever spacing out as a baby. Naturally I laughed and made some sort of a joke about robots but I think she got to my paranoid side.

  • I was wondering the same thing about DD. She does it occasionally when I go to get her out of her carseat or when she's sitting in her chair hugging her doggie.

  • Wouldn't worry about it unless you have other signs that indicate something is wrong.
