VBAC

Have any of you moms had a VBAC?  If so, are you glad that you did?

I would like to since I had a c-section with DS and did not enjoy the recovery process one little bit.  However DH is concerned about the risks involved with a VBAC.  I've done some research and I do not think that the risk is as high as what we were told by the doctor at the hospital.  I did talk to my mid-wife and she told me that a VBAC was a possibility, but that I should have two years between children.

Thanks for any insight you might have to offer.

Re: VBAC

  • I had one.  It was great.  I didn't want one, but my doctor really pushed for it and I'm so glad I went for it.  The recovery was amazing(compared to a c-section).  If it is a possibility for you, then I say go for it!

  • I wanted to with DS #2 but dr said that the risks were too high since there would only be 15 months inbetween.

We're going to wait a few years before our next LO and I want to try for a vbac next time.

  • I'm curious to see the responses to this. My OB and midwife think I may be able to have a VBAC with this pregnancy. I'm on the fence about it though. Even though they say it may be a possibility I'm nervous because it will be so soon after my csection. I would love to have a VBAC though. I need more time to think about it and do some research.

  • I thought about posting this on 6-12 too, but what do I put in the title line?

  • If we decide to have another, I definitely want to try a VBAC.  I had my heart set on a natural childbirth, and we obviously didn't achieve that with our first, so I want to give it another shot.  Only one hospital in our state allows VBACs, but it happens to be the hospital where we delivered Parker, and we had an OK experience there.  Good luck in your decision.
