How soon to TTC again?

DH and I really want to have another LO soon. My OB said we need to wait at least 6 month to TTC again, however- I've read/heard from others that 3 months is enough time. What have your docs advised? I had a c-section too. (I don't know if that makes a difference?) TIA

I've heard that you should wait 12 months after a c-section. I didn't have one and I'm not an ob though. I would listen to your doctor. There are medical reasons why they want you to wait.

I've never talked about it with my Dr., because I want mine 2-3 years apart.  But if I were you, I'd go with what your Dr. advised.

DD was 6 months old when I conceived DS1 (not planned ).  I had c-sections with both and had no problems.

I had a c-section and my OB said wait at least a year. I would do what your OB advises, though.

My OB recommends 1-2 years!  Our bodies need to fully recover and it takes actually a year to get the body, hormones, etc back into norm.

I had a planned c-section and my doctor said we could TTC whenever we're ready.  We're planning on waiting until DS is 6 months before I go off the pill again.  I'm sure the risks of TTC too soon after a c-section have to do with how well you healed and any complications you may have had.

Hmmmmm.  I will have to talk to my OB about that at my PP check since I too had a section.  DH and I want to wait at least a year.  My sister and I are 13 months apart and my aunts are 10 months so "opps" babies run in the family. 

(BTW- "Opps" babies is not meant to offense anyone.  My mother just never expected to get pregnant again so quickly but then she had my sister so opps!)

I also had a c-section and I had asked my Obgyn this as well and she said December would be a good time to start trying.   She said by that time everything will be healed up etc.  She did not recommend trying sooner than that.

My ob said that if I wanted a vbac, I should wait until DS was 18mo to TTC again.  If I wanted a repeat c/s, there was no time limit.  DS was 9mo when I conceived DS2 and never had any issues during the pregnancy.

I just had my 6 week check up and asked my OB this exact question. He gave us the green light to start trying right away. I too had a C section and heale up very well He said there should be no issue with concieving and pregnancy. I plan to have a repeat C section.

Do a little research online...I can't remember where I saw it, but I read that prior to 6 months, the miscarriage rate is higher than normal, between 6 months and a year it is still a little higher, and that once you reach a year, it goes back down to normal.
