Daycare problem

My DCP informed me yesterday that she's going to three days a week after Labor Day.  DS only goes three days a week so that's not really a problem except they aren't the same three days she's working.  DH will have to change his schedule.  The other thing is she's only taking 3 kids, so she won't be able to take the new baby in the spring.  I think I'll try to keep Mikey there until the baby is born to give us more time to find a new provider, I'm going to tell her on Monday, but I don't know if she'll keep Mikey knowing that he'll be leaving in May (when my maternity leave is up).  If not, I'm screwed and only have a month to find a new placement/

Re: Daycare problem

  • Ugh that stinks, sorry for your situation.  Maybe you should start looking now- figure out what your options are.  Plus, do you think it will be hard for DS to adjust to a new baby and a new daycare at the same time?

  • I'm sorry, that sucks!  My thoughts would be to try to look for something and get him settled in before the baby arrives.  You may not want to introduce a new daycare situation at the same time as he has to adjust to having a new sibling!  JMO!  Good luck!

I agree w/ pp.  If you know he won't go there after the baby comes, I would look for something else now.  The sooner he can get moved and adjusted to a new sitter, the better.  Hopefully you can find someone to fit w/ your current schedule, so your DH doesn't have to change. I also agree that new daycare and new baby may be an awful lot for him. GL!!

  • That stinks! ?I agree- I would switch him soon, and let him get adjusted to a new person before the baby comes. ALso, maybe your DH wouldn't have to switch his work schedule then. GL

  • That's all true, but a MONTH to find a new placement seems a little daunting and ridiculous to me.  I know she only has to give me two weeks notice, but this really sucks.

  • if you are worried about her keeping him if you tell her you are leaving - dont tell her.  2 weeks notice is pretty standard.  she gave you a month, give her the same.

and i agree on getting your LO settled before new baby would probably be easier on him.

I would give her the same notice.  I really like her.  She already knows I'm pg so that's why I am worried.  I guess the best case would be to keep him there until I can find somewhere else (but before the baby comes), give her a month's notice, and then move him.
