Is there anything I can do?

I had my LO last Saturday. After my older DS was born I remember have a little swelling in my ankles and feet but it went away after a few days. This time the swelling is horrible. It starts in my toes and goes till my lower back. It is making getting around easily very hard. How long should I expect this to last? Is there anything I can do to at least decrease the swelling? I'm drinking plenty of water and not too much salt. I'm assuming I can't take a dihrreatic (spelling?) since I'm breastfeeding and it might effect my supply. Any suggestions?

Re: Is there anything I can do?

  • I was really swollen for a couple of weeks because of all the IV fluids they pumped into me. I think you just have to wait it out and drink as much water as you can. Sorry. Hang in there.

  • Took 2 weeks for all swelling to go down. ?Brutal. Nothing but time worked.
  • You had a c/s right?  I did not have any swelling after my first c/s, but with this one I got very swollen after leaving the hospital.  Just wait it out, put your feet up whenever possible and make sure your DH gives you foot rubs!  You're doing all the right things.  It will go away in time.
