Pregnant after a Loss

When did you tell your boss?

I work in a office where I could be exposed to chemotherapy. So now I will be avoiding being around that. Its gonna be really hard to hide that fact and I dont want my boss to think I am slacking not doing my job. But at the same time I told him when I had an e/p and it really sucked having to tell him when I lost it. (I dont plan on telling the rest of the office till 10-12 wks). So I am torn.

Re: When did you tell your boss?

  • I told my boss early on since I had to go for blood draws every other day for a week (also had e/p). I told the rest of the office at 12 weeks

  • I have a woman boss who I am pretty close with...she knew about my m/c bc I had to take some time off. I told her about this pg after I heard the hb (around 7 weeks). Even if I weren't close with her I prob would have told her then anyways...I had to take several 1/2 days due to u/s's, appts, etc.

  • Today! I have a really good relationship with my boss. Plus, we're the same faith, so he and his wife are going to be praying for me and the baby. :)

  • I am starting a new job so I won't be telling any work related people for a while. With both of the previous pgs I never told either. I had to tell my boss about m/c #2 when it happened though because I had to call in and it was a very important project day that I couldn't normally have missed.

If you work around that kind of stuff you should probably tell your boss ASAP. I think she is not allowed to tell anyone else though...it violates HIPAA privacy laws.

Yes, I agree with Jen.  I don't plan on telling anyone at work until 12 weeks.

  • I told my boss after we saw the h/b at 8 wks.  I was really sick and having to take frequent breaks so I went ahead and told her.

  • I just told my boss this week. I only told him because I'll need to leave for b/w and appointments, or in case I feel sick and need to go home. I trust him 100% not to tell anyone. I don't plan on telling anyone else in my office at all. They'll figure it out once I start showing. I hate being asked personal questions at work.

  • My boss figured it out since I was going to quite a few doctor's appointments (and of course he knew about the previous m/c).  I had to tell him about leaving early from our meeting one day and he said that he hopes everything is good and that he is keeping his fingers crossed for me.  (He's a total family man and was very saddened when I told him about the m/c.)  So, I gave him an update.  I won't tell the rest of the office until after 12 weeks and the NT scan.
