So I went to meet my new OB today and have my 1st appointment..... he seems like a lot of fun, was a very fast talker and had a great sense of humor
So after going over my medical history, our infertility struggle, the IVF... he finally began to talk about my pregnancy and how he handles his patients at his practice. After that I had to give a urine sample and then had an exam - breast exam, pelvic, cervix check etc... I was given a bag full of samples, pregnancy magazines and informational booklets...
My next appointment is on the 17th - so like 2.5 weeks from now - he said he will do an u/s and check-up. He also advised that I should get an amnio, due to my age (37) but that it was not required. I will have to do the NT scan and bloodwork however. He wants me to have my mind made up when I come in for my next appointment. I told him I was undecided. I have mixed feelings about it due to the risk of m/c and the fact that we conceived through IVF. He did mention (without me having told him my fears) that the majority of his IVF pregnancies choose not to have the amnio. I can understand the logic behind that. I will have to discuss with DH.
Anyway - I was hoping for an u/s today, for re-assurance, but I guess the three I have already had w/my RE will have to suffice until my next appointment.
