Don't know if I spelled it right! Anyways, I wasn wondering if anyone on this board had a blighted ovum before and if so if you could share your experiences? I went in today for a emergency u/s becuase of bleeding and cramping. The u/s showed a gestational sac but nothing else. I am 7 weeks along today and the tech said that it was very early still and that we might not see anything just yet. I also might not be as far along as I thought? Anyways, I am confused about it and wondered if anything were to go wrong if this might be the problem? Thanks for sharing ladies!
Re: Blighted Ovum?
I had a blighted ovum. I went in for an ultrasound at 9w1d, and I was sure of my dates. The u/s showed only a gestational sac and I *think* a yolk sac, but no baby, no heartbeat. It was pretty clearly a blighted ovum, so I went in for a D&C the next day.
At seven weeks you probably should see more than a sac, but I wouldn't give up hope yet. Depending on the machine and the tech, they might not have been able to get a clear picture, especially if you have a tipped uterus at all, and the baby would still be very tiny. I hope your regular doctor follows up in a week or so. Good luck!
I went in for my first ultrasound at 8wks we saw the yok sac so I was told that I probably had my dates wrong and was too soon to see baby (I knew something was wrong because I know my dates). A week later I started bleeding had a second ultrasound and there was no change so I was already having a miscarriage. I didn't want a d&c done and my midwife said it wasn't necessary as everything was beginning to come out on its own.
Hopefully it's still too soon for you to see now and you can go back in a week and see your baby with a strong HB.

2IF does not always equal 3IF...Surprise!
Our first pregnancy was a blighted ovum. We went for an u/s around 7 or so weeks due to spotting and all they saw was a sac. They did both an internal and external, still just a sac. They had me come back 2 weeks later to confirm. Still, just a sac. We opted for the D&E. The procedure was done in the hospital, I was there about 7 hours, and that was cake. It was the emotional part that was the hardest.?
I really hope and pray that your dates are just a little off and it was too early to see anything. Next time you go back, I'm sure you will see your little bean!!!?
