Noah is about to drive me INSANE. He has been waking up at night screaming for us. Finally we got him to stop that (for at least one night), but then he got up at 5:45 am. It just took me forever to get him to go to sleep for his nap. He is SO tired, but fighting it. He wants me to stay with him. When I leave his room he just screams that he misses me. Anyone have any strategies or know if this is just a normal phase?
For the past 2 nights I have told him I love him very much and he is safe in the house, but if he wakes up we won't be able to come to him. (Going in just makes it 10 times worse b/c he won't let you leave. Trust me, I got stuck in there for hours in the middle of the night a few nights ago.) It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't getting up 2 times with Maren. Anyway, telling him that seemed to work, but now he is getting up so early and fighting his nap.
Please tell me this will end very soon.
Re: OMG. 2.5 yo fighting sleep???
You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
Matthew has been doing the same thing. Waking up for hours in the middle of the night, not napping, napping too long, not wanting to go to bed, not wanting to get out of bed, waking up before the chickens...

DD woke up a few nights ago saying she was scared because creatures were waking her up.
A while back we told her there was a forcefield around her room so monsters could not get in. The night she woke up, I reminded her about the forcefield. I told her mommy made sure she was nice and safe in her room. If she woke up again to tell the monsters that they were not allowed in her room because of the forcefield. It worked. So far.
GL!
We've been going through the same thing! At bedtime, it takes FOREVER to get her settled down and asleep. She wakes up almost every night around 2:00am screaming for us- as though something has startled her or scared her. We've been bringing her in bed with us for the remainder of the night and it helps, but hopefully it's just a phase.
Ugh...naptime stinks too! She used to sleep for a solid 3 hours. Now, she wakes up upset after 1 1/2 hours. She is soo cranky and keeps telling me she's tired, but I can't get her to fall back asleep.
The joys of 2 1/2 year olds!
