Pregnant after a Loss

What did you do this early??

Hey girls!

Obviously it's way too early to show, but I've got some serious bloat since week 5 and it's only getting worse.  None of my pants fit me!!  I've been wearing loose flowy tops to hide it.

It's way too early to buy maternity clothes and I do not want to spend $$ on clothes that I will only wear for a few weeks.

What can I do to be more comfortable - especially at work?  I truly appreciate your input!

  • Well I don't know yet from experience, but I heard those belly bands work great.  I guess they allow you to wear your pre-pg pants unbuttoned or unzipped.

  • Congradulations!!!  I must have missed your BFP!  I bought a belly band early on and just left me pants unbotton and put it over it.  You can buy it at target for 16.99.
10/17/2009 - Our Miracle came 10 weeks early. IF,2 MC and 1 Preemie we have our miracle.. Baby Hope 10 weeks 5days was taken from us on Dec 18, 2007. Forever with us and Forever missed. Triplets Lost baby A @ weeks, Lost Baby B at 6 weeks and lost baby Abigail at 14 weeks when she was born to little for this life..... Forever with us ....
  • First I used the rubber-band trick to fasten the buttons on my pants (loop one end of a rubber band around the button, thread the other end through the buttonhole, then loop it around the button).  Gives you a couple extra inches.

Then I transitioned into my fat clothes (I lost about 20 lbs between pgs).  I bought maternity clothes around 12 weeks but didn't start wearing them until about 18 weeks.  I've heard lots of people swear by the Bella Band, although I never bought one.

  • I don't know.  I'm having the same problem!!  I was in maternity clothes at 9 weeks with my son and it seems that it's just going to be earlier for that now.

  • I don't know if they are currently in season, but Ny&co usually has great work pants that are elastic waist.  Not like granny elastic lol.  They were a saving grace until I switched to maternity clothes.

    1st pregnancy: m/c began 1/12/09 d&c 1/13/09 8wks. Baby stopped growing at about 6wks.

  • I bought the Bella Band, but to be honest I didn't really like it all that much.

  • Have you tried the rubberband trick?

  • I'm def. not there yet with this pg but I have to say I LOVED my Bella Band and wore it from weeks 7-13+ with my last pg. (sadly I still had to wear it for about 2 weeks post D&E) but they are comfy and can easily be hidden because the whole "layered" look is totally in right now so it is perfect.  Before that it was the rubberband!
  • I feel the exact same way. ?Absolutely nothing fits me. ?I've already worn all of my loose flowy tops and dresses several times so I went out and bought more. ?I made sure the tops were empire waist and long. ?That way I can wear them through out the whole pregnancy. ?My problem right now if bottoms. ?Here are my suggestions:

*Buy a BeBand. ?It scrunches up if you sit down and get up constantly, but it'll help some.

*Check out Old Navy. ?They have skirts and pants with stretchy waists. ?They're not elastic, just soft, comfort material kind of like maternity pants. ?You can find them in the regular section because that seems to be the incoming style right now. ?They also have pants.

*Target also has the stretchy waist pants and skirts with the fold over top, but they have less of a selection.?

  • The pants and skirts I am talking about can be worn well into your pregnancy so you wouldn't be wasting money. ?GL!
  • I wore the bella band from around 10 weeks to 14 weeks...then I switched to mat pants. I didn't love it, but it did the trick!

  • I used a Bella Band from like 9 weeks-17 weeks!! Also, elastic waists are miracle workers. The bella band can get uncomfortable at times, but it does it's job.

  • Depending on what your job is maybe consider wearing pants that have elastic waists with nicer tops - I did that for a little bit. I also work from home a lot so I just wore workout clothes as much as I could until I finally started buying maternity clothes last weekend.

HI - I feel your pain. I started wearing my maternity clothes around 8-9 weeks with this pregnancy - with first pregnancy I didn't wear maternity clothes until 18-20 weeks. I had so much bloat this time around. I also bought the bella bands and they helped me to wear non-maternity stuff longer. I got them on EBAY for a great price. Congrats on your pregnancy.
