BCP w/o Rx? Help please

Since DS is now fully weaned I need to get back on BCP but since we just moved a few months ago (DS wasn't weaned yet so I hadn't thought of this then) I switched ob/gyns, but haven't picked a new one yet.  I got my records and everything from the previous one so they won't give me an Rx.  My insurance won't cover another well woman exam until the end of October and a new og/gyn won't give me an Rx without seeing me I'm sure.  So what are my options?  A friend said had seen where you could buy them online without an Rx but that freaks me out.  Any ideas?

  • Condoms?

ETA:  Oh, you definitely want pills?  Sorry--I would call your old OB and have them call in a prescription to cover you until you can get in to the new Dr.

  • You could go to see your GP or you can go to planned parenthood. That's the best I can think of.

  • Call your old OB/Gyn and she will call in an Rx.  That is what i did.

  • A new OB will definitely want to see you first before doing anything. Would your last OB give you a sample pack? or not since you got your records?

I would say just bite the bullet and go to the new ob and explain your situation...maybe they will give you something to get you through until your appt in October. Good luck! (I wouldn't buy them online w/o a prescription if I were you!!!!)

  • I think if you can choose a new doctor and schedule an appointment for the fall when you are due to go, they will probably write you a prescription now... esp. if you bring in your records so they are aware of your medical history.

It's certainly worth a try. Good luck!?

  • I've gone through this before.

1)Make an appt. with new OB and ask them to fill your RX until that appt. Most will do that as long as u have an appt.

2)Call old OB and ask for RX to cover you. Most will just give you the RX since they know your situation. Just tlel them you moved.

  • Check with your local health dept or planned parenthood.
  • Left a message with old ob office, waiting for call back from nurse.  Hope it comes soon so I know one way or the other.  If not I get to find a new one, hard to do since I loved my other one and he knew all about our struggles, m/c, etc.  Anyway, thanks for the advice!
