Info about Discovery Garden ....

We went there last Friday about 5pm (they close at 6).  I honestly didn't feel too welcome, but I just chalked it up to being 5pm on Friday and wanting to leave but the thought really did cross my mind about not being overly friendly/welcoming and they knew it was our first time b/c we were kind of lost.

I said he was 20 months (I finally found an advantage to having a preemie) so he got in for free and they didn't make it seem like he was too young at all.

Once inside he and we had a blast!!  he ran around like crazy and LOVED to look at all the trains going around the place.  He did all of the activiites and really just loved it.  We ended up getting a yearly pass for a famioly of 4 for $33. We had initially paid $8 to get in then they subtracted that from the $33.  We have our last name on it and my maiden name so any of the grandparents can take him as well.

I have the pics up on facebook - he might not 'appreciate' everythign up there or even the beauty of it but DH and I did for sure and he had a blast and that is all that matters.

I can't believe the way he treated that one nestie, I wanted to reply but couldn't b/c it wasn't letting me sign in.  I would definitely go, I think it is a place to definitely check out - I have even told some of my friends with no kids b/c I just think it is such a unique and different place.

Re: Info about Discovery Garden ....

  • Thanks for the post!  I am definitely going to go back and give it another try.  My sis told me I should have just told him to go take a leap and go on in.  So, if the weather holds, I think we are going to try going tomorrow when they open at 10a.

I'm glad, though, that I'm not the only one who got a bad vibe from the worker(s).  Makes me feel less paranoid, I guess.  I haven't heard anything back yet from the email I sent to the park district.  If I do, I'll let you all know!
