Is this virus going to ever end?

So, starting this last weekend Macy became super fussy, clingy, not sleeping well, diarrhea...Then Monday I took her to pedi because she broke out into full body rash.  At the time no fever.  Pedi thought it was either stomach bug or Roseola.  After we left pedi she started running low grade temp (99.5-100.5) and still diarrhea.  The rash went away yesterday, but she's still SUPER fussy, occasional diarrhea, not sleeping at night, and low grade temp.  We've been giving tylenol (pedi said motrin might be further upseting her tummy with the diarrhea).  I don't see any teeth cutting through.  Pedi said to call if temp 101.4 for 48 hours.

Should I call back anyway?  It's been almost a week!  I was up every 2 hours, plus up with her for at least a half hour everytime she was up last night.  I just feel so bad for her.  She's never been sick before...

Anyone else dealt with a virus like this before?

Re: Is this virus going to ever end?

  • DD had that a couple of weeks ago.

Diahrrea & low grade fever, then a rash. Rash went away first. Then the diarrhea, then the fever. Immediately after that she got a runny nose & low grade fever. Fever's gone away, but now she's teething!

She's been fighting one thing or another for 3 weeks now. I feel bad for her, but it doesn't seem to phase her too much.

As long as she's getting enough fluids and her temp is coming down with Tylenol, I'd just try to give it more time. Unfortunately most of these things just have to run their course.

    Hope she feels better soon!

  • DD had something viral last year and with that she ran a temp of 103-105 for about a week.  They had her in a couple different times early on when her symptoms and fever started, concluded that it was viral and told me to keep giving fluids, Tylenol/Motrin and that the virus would just have to run its course.  Because her fever was so high and persistent, they were about to start bloodwork, but then it finally broke and the rest of her symptoms went away shortly after.  If you were to call the pedi's office they probably wouldn't be able to recommend anything else to you at this point, unfortunately.  I know it stinks!  I hope she feels better soon!
