What is going on with this child???

DS has been acting SO strange lately.  He just gets so upset so easily and for no reason - or at least no reason I can see.  For example, we were playing with blocks and all of a sudden, out of no where he starts fussing and throwing the blocks around.  I figured maybe he was bored so I asked him if wanted to be 'all done' (and did the sign) and he hit the ROOF.  He started sobbing complete with these big tears and hiccups.  He just went from 0 to inconsolable crying so fast!  It was so wierd.

Same thing happened with the bath this evening.  He normally LOVES his bath, but tonight he was just so fussy and started throwing his bath toys around and holding his arms out to us to be taken out and waving his hands like he was 'all done'.  We finally took him out and he started crying hysterically and leaning to be put back in!  Back in he went, but or course that didn't make him any happier!

Meal times are pretty much the same scene too.  Uggggggghhhhhhhh.  I just do not know what his deal is.  What is this all about??

  • I just call them mood swings.  DS tends to get them during growth spurts, and he just went through one.  Your DS is a few weeks younger, so maybe he's about to go through one too?

  • I was also going to suggest a growth spurt.  DD was fussy as can be for a few days a few weeks ago.  I thought it was teething, but I still don't think I see a tooth.  Yesterday though, I noticed that DD can no longer walk under our bar height table without bumping her head....so obviously she's shot up a bit.  Growth spurts can be kind of painful, and tiring for them, so it makes sense that they get fussy.

I hope for your sanity it stops soon.
