Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I have a really gross problem

My twins, during naptime, are having fun with each other, avoiding their nap, by...

making themselves throw up!!!

They giggle and laugh and egg each other on.  Two days ago our boy threw up all over his crib, floor and blankets.  Today they BOTH did.  So gross.

Two days ago, I made DS (who is 19 months) "help momma" clean it up because he did it on purpose.  And yes, I'm sure it's on purpose.

Please help--this would be awful to become a game.

Anyone else's babies do this?  They're 19 months.

Re: I have a really gross problem

  • how do you know it's on purpose?

whether or not it was on purpose or not, i wouldn't ever "make" my child help clean up their own puke

  • Loading the player...
  • I'm fairly sure they will learn on thier own that vomitting does not feel good and should stop on thier own.
  • OMG YES! My DD has been doing this for weeks. She does it when she wants our attention.

She shoves her finger down her throat and gags until she pukes.

I am so confused because I SAH and she 99% of the time has our attention. She does this in the car or at the dinner table, etc.

    I have no remedy.

  • DD will stick her hand down her throat and make herself gag. I just ignore or or take her hand out if she starts doing it. She's never actually thrown up from it though. I don't know how to help you though. Maybe have them sleep in separate rooms for awhile since they egg each other on?
  • my son has major digestive issues & gags himself a lot. the dr says they gag themselves b/c something in them is upsetting them & they want to get it out...not always for attention

Like a cat eating grass?  How in the world would they know how to make themselves puke, even if this is right?

To the OP - I'd have them sleep separately until this phase passes, if you really do know for sure they're doing it on purpose.
