Pregnant after a Loss

BA users, I have a ?

I'm wondering if you had any reservations about starting the baby aspirin?  I'm worried after reading about the possible complications especially during the 3rd trimester.  My OB said it is safe, but I forgot to specifically address my concerns.  Did your OB explain why BA is safe during pregnancy?  Thanks in advance.

Re: BA users, I have a ?

  • It's safe because it's a really low dose.  I've been on BA for a long time.  I've stopped it a few times because of bleeding episodes, but now I'm on it until I reach 36 weeks.

This. Asprin is generally not recommended during pregnancy but BA is okay since it's such a small dose and deemed necessary for some of us to prevent greater risks.

  • Thanks Lucky428, does your ob think the BA contributed to your bleeding episodes?  I have had a decent about of spotting/bleeding in 3 of my pgs and I'm very concerned that the ba would just cause more problems.

Most of the time, I've had specific reasons for bleeding.  I had a SCH, placenta previa, and a partial placental tear.  I stopped the aspirin while my placenta healed.  Now that it is healed and no longer a previa, I take it daily.

  • I did not have any reservations. My hemo dr even said to take it and then I would be put on lovenox/heperin at some point but my ob didnt think we needed to take it that far.

When I was pg with my son I had a bleed that lasted 4 wks, my dr thought it had to do with the aspirin, there was no explaination for the bleeding but my dr didnt tell me I needed to stop taking it. At 36 wks he said that I needed to come off it, since it takes a week to get out of your system. My son was born a few days later, no complications.

I am now pg again with twins and have only had two bleeding/spotting episodes and we are doing the same thing. I dont know if he will have me stop earlier this time or just stop at 36wks again since I will be induced between 37 &38 wks.
