TTC after 35

Cycle after BCP

How long did it take your cycle to return to normal after BCP?  I've only been off a month and gyn said it could take a few months to regulate.

Re: Cycle after BCP

  • Probably 3 for me...hard to tell for sure because I went straight into 28 day cycles and then they got a little crazy and then back to normal.

It is different for everyone though.

  • It took me 6 months!  I never wanted AF so badly!

Good luck to you.  Hope it is quick!

  • it was almost a year for me, first month 28 days, next 35 days then back to 29 , it went back and forth like that, now my average is 30-35 days. of course i have PCOS so i'm never truly "regular" without the BCP

  • For me, AF was regulated the next month but ovulation was not confirmed for 4 months. That was after being on BCP for 17 years straight without a break (you read that right!).  Also, I was never regular before BCP.
  • I also was on BCP for 17 years.  My cycles regulated pretty quickly after coming off.  Within a couple of months, I was back to my typical pre-BCP short cycles &  heavy cramping.

  • Went off BCP (after probably 15 yrs) the end of October.... didn't get a period till March.... still not sure I'm "regular", but ovulate most times now...

  • I was on BC for 7 years.  Always had pretty regular 26-28 day cycles previously.  Got AF on day 26 of my first cycle.

I hope I stay regular.  I am getting my sex drive back now, and DH is not complaining!

  • I was on BCP for almost 20 years.  I had regular AFs starting the first month I got off BCP.  I was pleasantly surprised.  AF isn't bad at all, just 2 days long.  It's nice being "drug free" but I get a lot of skin break-outs.
