Married my BEST FRIEND on December 1, 2007. Started TTC in March 2008. Found out we were expecting our first child in October 2008 - but had a m/c in December 2008 - resulting in a d&e. Met with a RE in May 2009 and set a plan - but conceived unexpectedly on our own! Our precious little Sophia was born on February 9, 2010! Lilypie Third Birthday tickers

Re: how often do you use your doppler?

  • It is safe for every day use - I think I used it every day from 10w until about 17w. ?At that point, I could feel movement and I stopped using it. ?

  • I used mine almost every day from 10 weeks until about 20!! Now that I'm feeling him move a lot I don't use it as much..maybe once a week on his slow days.

  • My doc said I can only use it every day if I use it only for a minute or 2.  She says there aren't enough studies to know what effects sound waves have on a baby.

That being said-I use it for a minute or 2, sometimes 3, about every night or every other night just because I sleep better with the sound of Sean's little heart and movement in my head knowing he's ok.

  • After your responses, I just went and used it. I used it yesterday morning, but I feel at peace hearing the babies heartbeat. What a beautiful sound it is!

  • I still use mine once a day even though I can feel him moving around - its just a nice reassurance. ?However I only use it for like 10 seconds - enough to hear it and then I'm done. ?My OB said they'd rather have me use it since there is no studies that show negative side effects than have me be stressed out all the time about the baby - which HAS been shown to have negative side effects. ?
