I know i've been incredibly lucky that this is our first one but what do I do to stop the whining!?!? He's gotten regular Motrin but is there something that will help the cold symptoms for a toddler or should I just let him work through it? Any tips are appreciated!

Re: Our first cold-- what helps?
if he is stuffy use saline drops, a humidifier and elevate the head of his crib. take him in the bathroom while the shower is running..that helps a lot
i use the infant vicks when ds is super stuffy... i put it on his onsie..not his skin.
if he has a sore throat you can give him freeze pops. if he isnt eating/drinking enough you could try the pedialyte (spelling?) pops or drinks. ds doesnt like them and pedi says gatorade is the same stuff...
he might need a pacifier more than usual or just to sit and cuddle. could you get him all comfy with with a big blankie and turn on cartoons?
warm milk and chicken noodle soup always seem to help too!!!
good luck and i hope your lo feels better quick!
Thank you so much for all the tips! We've had the stomach flue (horrible!) but never a cold. We're still in the beginning stage of just a runny nose and being extra whiny but I can see it getting worse and wanted to be prepared.
And right back at you about the cuteness!!!
Thanks again!!
I have nothing to add as the pp did a great job with suggestions. I just wanted to say that I can't believe you made it thru the first year w/out getting a cold! Incredible!
Hope your little one feels better soon!
