Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Any other late talkers?

DH and I aren't sure if DD has said any real words or not.  A few times it has sounded like she's said something (do for dog, ma-maw for grandma), but she has never repeated them.  She knows a lot of words and babbles a lot, though.  I'm not worried, especially since the other kids in her play group are the same age and don't talk either.  I'm just curious to see if anyone else is in the same boat.  Thanks!

Re: Any other late talkers?

  • dd says "plat" which is supposed to be plant.  and she says "hiiiiiiiiiii" whenever we walk into a room.  other than that, just constant babbling.  oh and screaming. she loves to hear herself hit those high notes. lol.

  • DS says 'ball' and every so often 'doh' (dog) ... and 'dis' (this).  Thats about it though.  And none of them are enunciated well.

  • dek knows a lot of words, but the only things he says (which i don't really consider talking just yet) are hi, da (as he points, so i think it's that, like what's that?), heh-da (our dog hendrix), and the rest is babbling to me. mama, dada, nana, baba, yaya, lala, wawa, etc. i am hoping he starts really speaking soon, because he has a lot to say---i just wish i understood it all the time! :)

  • My DS doesn't say anything yet, just babbles. I think he occasionally says mamama and dadada in context but nobody else agrees with me.

  • Dada for DH

Da eee = dog (but this has different variations)

And... that's about it. He points to things, but everything starts with D- Do, Deee, Di, Da. ?He makes noise all day, and it seems he has his own language & is able to carry on a conversation with himself, but we have no clue what he is talking about!?
