Pregnant after a Loss

Sudafed question

So I've been having terrible sinus headaches. I talked to my dr because this is to the point where I need to take meds every day and I just wasn't comfortable. She said 30mg of Sudafed is okay, or I could take Claritin, and Tylenol for the headaches. The only Sudafed I had was Sudafed PE so I went to the pharmacy to get some regulary Sudafed...turns out there's no such thing?? All of them were PE, so I'm assuming it's okay. I got Sudafed PE for sinus headaches that has 5mg of Phenylephrine and 325mg Acetaminophin in each tablet. The dosage is 2 tablets I was thinking of taking just one to be on the safe side? I also bought a Neti Pot and used it! I feel a litle cleared out but the headache is still lingering. Between the leg cramps I'm now getting, the headaches, the heartburn...I'm just miserable! Sorry for the vent, but please help with your Sudafed advice!

Re: Sudafed question

  • I know on my list of "safe" meds sudafed is on there but only from behind the pharmacy counter. So as long as that's where it came from I'd guess it's fine but if you're worried call the doctor and doublecheck.

  • Cora,

I just got back from the doctors office this morning and she told me to pick up regular Sudafed.  I went to Walgreens and had to get the behind the counter Sudafed from the pharmacist.  Good Luck!

  • Hey Cora-

DO not take the Sudafed PE..... it has been linked to problems with the placenta and constriction of the blood vessels in the placenta, restricting blood flow to baby. The regular sudafed should be behind the pharmacists counter, and is said to be ok. I took it a few times during this pregnancy!
