If you happened to have had an internal this early, were you dilated at all?
(My perinatologist doesn't seem worried that I am, but she also didn't seem worried when I started gushing blood at 23 weeks or when I started having contractions every 2 minutes at 31 weeks. At my appointment yesterday, she congratulated me to making it to 32 weeks, almost acting as though I'd made it to full term. I kind of feel like she's just expecting me to delivery early, but I'd like to prevent that if possible! She even took me off of my stop labor meds.)
Re: Anyone else dilated at 33 weeks?
Just a fingertip. They've been doing internals ever since I started having (mild, painless, but always timable) contractions every 2-10 minutes.
Wow, you've had an internal already? I'm "full term" and still haven't had one...and my OB didn't mention "undressing" at my next weekly appointment (which is on Fri), which he always does if I ever have to get naked.
Weird...
Let me clarify this: OB'S DON'T CHECK PRETERMERS WITHOUT A REASON!
They often don't check term ladies without a reason. If you're term and GBS+, forget about it until you're in labor.
The original poster says she bled and has had contractions. Both valid reasons to be checked preterm.
I had an abruption at 25 weeks and was closed. I went to triage last week with some contractions, they did an FFN prior to checking me (negative fortunately), and I am 1cm. I contract a lot, but I have that negative FFN to fall back on.
I have been having internals for the past few weeks due to some random spotting and other asorted issues. I was a fingertip at 33 weeks and 1 cm at 34 weeks. I am not at all concerned since I walked around at 2-3 cms for weeks on end with both of my boys before finally going into labor around their due date.
