Pregnant after a Loss

Poor DH

He emailed me a link to an article on how dangerous swine flu is for pg women. Then he emailed me that there are so many bad baby stories online today and it's making him sad. I told him to step away from the internet and STOP reading the articles!!!!!!! He never acts worried about the pg, so it's kinda cute to see him worrying - guess he just tries not to show it. I told him now he knows why I worry sometimes!

Re: Poor DH

  • My DH brought up the swine flu this morning too! He saw a news story about a woman who nearly died from it and had to deliver her baby at like 28 weeks...he called me and said that I AM getting the vaccination, because he is NOT letting that happen to us. Sweet, but paranoid. That's why I love him. :o)

  • My sister works for a medicare/medicaid call center, and the doctor on staff told them that the recommendation for women was NOT to get pregnant until after flu season because it can be so dangerous for pregnant women. It is kinda scary, and I a definitely trying to get my family immunized, although she was also told that there is a shortage of immunizations (apparently, only 1 out of 3 people can have the vaccine because of availability). People over the age of 65 or so should have some sort of immunity (apparently from an earlier flu. Can't be Spanish flu, had to be something else).
  • There must be something in the water today.

MIL e-mailed me this morning and was all "I thought of you today. I was watching good morning america and they were talking about how pregnant women are more prone to get the swine flu. So if you start to feel flu-like symptoms, go get them checked out and get the drugs--okay?". I love her to death, but this is the same lady who kept asking me if my neck hurt last year when I had a really bad cold (she worried it might be meningitis).

  • yeah, my DH is the opposite - he was worrying about me getting the vaccine and wondering if it's safe to get that as late in pg as I'll be by then. I told him the doctors TELL you to get vaccinated for flu if you're pg! he's so funny. I can't imagine a doctor would tell someone not to get pg until after flu season - I mean it lasts from October through March - there's pretty much no way to avoid being pg for at least part of it. Obviously we all need to be careful, but I think it's a disservice to alarm people like that. People have been having babies during flu season for a LONG time and in reality, the numbers of people here with swine flu are very very low.
