BFing & Getting Pregnant

I've read there's a slight chance that you can get pregnant while BFing even if AF has visited. Does anyone know what the % is? I took the mini-pill with my first LO, but with the second LO I don't feel like having to deal with taking the pill and don't want to do the Depo or anything.

Just wondering what the chances are of getting preggers...definitely not ready for a third just yet!

LO is 5 months and has started on some solids.

I don't know what the % is, but I have friends who have tried to get preg while bfing and have done it successfully!

there are several ladies on my local board that have recently gotten pg while BFing. I wouldn't take the risk if you are trying to avoid.

I don't know an exact percentage, but once your LO starts on solids, or you supplement at all, your chance of getting pregnant increases. EBFing can be used as BC under certain conditions for the first 6 months PP. It's called the LAM method (Lactational Amonnorrhea Method). Kellymom.com has a lot of info on fertility while Bfing.

I have two relatives who got pregnant while EBF. Their LO's were only 3 months when they got pregnant. I would not suggest it if you are not prepared for another. I am not going to use another form of BC but I would be okay with another LO if it happened.

I have no idea what the % is. I know my mom didn't have a period for about 5 years. She got PG and m/c a baby before me, got PG and had me, BF me through a year, got PG with my younger brother (21 months younger) and BF him "forever" without having any periods in the middle. My BFF got PG at 6 months PP while EBF but she got her period back at like 8 weeks. I had one period between my girls and two between DD#2 and this one, but I didn't get mine back until I had almost weaned or totally weaned either time and didn't get PG until I'd had at least one. At least, there's a chance. If you aren't ready for a third, you'll want to do something about it...just in case.
