I have never used "preggy" and have never had anyone call me that...but the others...preggo (makes me think of prego sauce) and preggers well ppl have used it and so have I not all the time but once in a great while...I don't see how a word can "upset" ppl??? Why let something like that bug you?!
Who cares?! I'm Preggy, MH calls me Preggers, and I LOVE Prego sauce...shall we start another women's movement to have such terms banned in our country? Will you stand up with other Pregnant women and burn your bras? I think not.
This whole post is partially because of my post about my friend being "prego". If you really let it get under your skin that people use slang on here, then you probably don't belong on this board. I would never actually use the word prego when speaking, but typing is different. It's like typing LOL. You would never actually say it out loud, but people type it all of the time. I have much better things to do with my time than to worry about the terms people use on this board.
as i said in the post below i think if you are old enough/mature enough/ intelligent enough to be having a baby and you want to be taken seriously then you should be using the correct terms. terms such as "preggo, BD, BBs" and the like are things that high schoolers say, not adults. i mean, when you teach your child about the brids and the bees are you gonna say "well when i daddy just loves a mommies BBs they do the BD and she gets preggo!" no, so why should we use those terms when discussing things as adults?
No offense, but LOL that you used a euphemism in your critique of this!

Yes the term is annoying, but really who gives a schitt?
Apparently Murfy can't....lol
It was there, I had to say it!
I can't! and I hate prunes
LOL!
Oh and the thought of prunes makes me want to . Yuck!
Our baby is about the size of a prune this week. lol @ that. I'm glad I don't feel like after finding that out!
Why do you think they called it a prune?! Is it to throw it in my face like ha you can't poop but your baby is the size of a PRUNE! LOL My baby is a lime this week! Can't wait to find out what odd fruit or object it will be at 12 weeks on Thurs.
Those terms make me feel uncomfortable and anxious.
The term prego makes you feel uncomfortable or anxious but yet you post a disgusting cake on your signature?!
murfy, you may want to have your sarcasm meter checked. ?I think it's broken.
::giggle::?
?
HAHAHA I just now got it when I re read her post and was like oops she was being sarcastic. Sorry forgive me long BAD day at work and only got 3 hours of sleep last night so I am slightly retarded today!?
I have no issues with any of those terms
However, I have an issue with the use of the word?retarded. ?

They're "dried plums" now- it's all about the marketing, I guess?
I don't get what the big deal is either. Whatever you want to call it, is fine by me. I am actually enjoying all the new nicknames I have been given since sharing our news with our friends. More important things to worry about!
Those terms make me feel uncomfortable and anxious.

While I do not really mind the other terms being used, I do mind this one.
I am not "preggy, preggers or prego". i am pregnant.
Ditto this. I don't care if you want to call yourself these terms, but don't call me them. DH tried to call me preggers the other day and I nipped that in the bud.
I wouldn't say it offends me but IMO it's childish. I hate when someone refers to me as being "prego" Um I'm not on 16 and pregnant ok?? I'm a grown woman so in case you were wondering I am pregnant.
I don't mind. I wouldn't use any of those terms when referring to someone else, as it might be offensive or not cool for them - but if someone were to use it on me I would be ok with it.

Hahaha. I think it's a personal preference thing. I don't think it's derogatory as other words like "cripey" as one pp put it or retarded. But like I said it's personal preference and i have been guilty of calling myself by one of the words.
I don't use it bc I think it just sounds kind of stupid, but if someone else wants to use it, go right ahead. There are far more offensive things in life.

Nuuu someone beat me to this, lol!
I don't use the term, I couldn't care less if someone else does (though I might jokingly refer to the sauce in RL if among friends). Though, I wonder how many anti-prego women will speak cutesy or baby-talk to their kids, or if they will consider themselves too mature for that.
It's a word. Do I use it? No. Do I shiit my pants when others do? Nope.
I focus my attention on world peace and ending child abuse.
Thank YOU!!
Its a word. Or atleast a slang word or abbreviation.. people get offended by the silliest/smallest things now a days... Times are a changing people.. and i love how people like to throw around the word MATURE.... like that have to prove their maturity by calling someone else immature!! MY MY MY! WOW!
I think there is a better way of saying it. My 20yr old niece said preggy when she was knocked up, she's a flipping idiot so thats what I think of when I see someone wrote that.
I personally don't use it or prefer it- however it doesn't bother me enough at this point in time to say anything. I know people mean well by it and I'm to blissful that I have a child growing to care. I don't mean to offend anyone- but I think its quite commical that some may have a problem with it or because people tend to shorten things in their fast paced life.... however in the sme breathe or TYPED sentence..... they themselves are abbreviating... IE-- IRL, MIL, TTC etc etc.... this entire website is coded in "immature" language and abbreviation so are we saying that we as soon to be mothers are to lazy to type out a word, to lazy to take the time to express our feeling, too immature to speak like adults, too immature to use correct grammar, and too trendy that we need to keep up with highschoolers to seem cool? If this is the case should one really be having a child - should one really be throwing daggers, should one really be judgmental??? What difference does it make is the bottom line... adults should be able to read through things and move one with out hesitation and set an example and FURTHERMORE ladies.... just be so happy about the child growing within..
Just my thought - why let anything bother you during this precious time.. Some women never get the change to have this experience of their own.
Holy crap....this subject seems a little blown out of proportion, if you ask me. Who cares if someone uses a term you don't like? It's not about someone "getting away" with something. Personally, I don't use these words on a regular basis, but I will admit that I've referred to myself as preggers and prego, mostly when joking with my husband and friends. Stop taking everything so seriously and RELAX...I don't have time to worry about crap like this, I'm busy being prego.
I say prego all the time. I don't understand what the big deal is. Its a WORD to describe being PREGNANT we use abbreviations for everything else on here who cares if someone cut pregnant short. If you don't like it more power to you, but I personally think prego preggers whatever it is all fine with me.
this-
get over it ladies, it's just a word. A diminutive of pregnant.

LOL at all of this.

this is a silly post...I agree with all those who said if you don't like the word don't use it.

Yes, because crippled and pregnant are the same thing.
**insert HUGE eyeroll here**
Dumbest. Argument. Ever.
I'm laughing too because on my website my site for pictures of children, infants and pregnant ladies is called "Kiddos, Peanuts, and Preggos".
How bored are we that we have to get our panties in a bunch because someone doesn't use the proper term, "Pregnant" to define us.
HOW SMUG CAN YOU BE!?
Quit taking yourselves so seriously. Yes, it's a beautiful thing but there's nothing wrong with having some humor and using slang words.
I'm pretty sure everyone knows when slang is appropriate and when it's not.

I don't like the term preggy at all. I dislike seeing that cake even more.
I did laugh when someone on my FB posted that her "egg-o was prego" though. The term BD is funny too IMO.
IMO, Who cares? I do not like the sound of prego or preggy, but when I talk with my friends, we use the term "preg"
