I think a mani, pedi, facial, and if she is allowed a prenatal massage as well. They even do eyelash dye! I've done it and it makes you appear to be wearing mascara, it's pretty cool!

I did the same thing!  I found a salon that does eyelash perms.  Sounds like they're up for anything.

Hey everybody.

I talked to patient services at the hospital, and they say they can help us arrange a manicurist. Speaking in vague, inspecific HIPAA-approved hypotheticals, they said that our theoretical patient would probably be perfect for a mani/pedi since it could be done without needing her to move. They also recommended a cookie basket or some other kind of goodie bag that wouldn't require refrigeration like an Edible Arrangement. (Actually, having just finished my massive gift pack of Fairytale Brownies, I can wholeheartedly recommend them.)

So...what do we want to do? I figure if we got somewhere from $2 to $5 apiece from about 20 people, we could do a nice in-room service. If we got $5-10, or got contributions from more people than that (maybe open up to other boards where she's well-known, like 6-12  and Success After IF) we could probably do the mani/pedi and a gift box.

 So that's the update.

I could do the paypal, but I'd like to see if anyone else would be on point on that first. This was Brookie's idea, and Francisca has a lot of friends on here, obviously. I picked up this piece, but if there is anyone else who is a good shopper/organizer/collector, I would be more than happy to pass the baton. (I in no way suggest that I am organized. I'm not. I want to be up front about that.)

When we did this for another Nestie on EFF we sent an Edible Arrangement, presents from Amazon, a birthday cake and a $200 gift card to Target.

Whoever heads this up, be prepared for a lot more contributions then you would think!  We raised over $500 for the EFF Nestie's family.

Lori, you are awesome.  I think those are great ideas.  If you wouldn't mind setting up the paypal account and then going from there.  I think PSAing the other mentioned boards would be good.  Who knows maybe someone is already cooking something up and we can just buddy up with them. I think a paypal account opened for X number of days and then going from there.  People can contribute what ever they are comfortable with, there is great interest so far.  With Mani/Pedi as the first thing that the money is counted towards and then an edible arrangement (love the brownies) with anything leftover and if there is more still perhaps we can check out the netflix idea or an amazon card.

I know that Eowynmn was instrumental in getting Larks her care package and Hippy was in on the EFF endeavour.  Perhaps those ladies can give you an idea of how to do this on the up and up so no one questions anything.  I am sure you know what I mean.  Money and internet strangers can be a touchy subject.

Again, you are awesome and I am sure no one has issue with leaving this in your capable hands.  I said before but I am leaving tomorrow for a vacation for 10 days with computer access for maybe the last few days of it.
