Of course we agreed on the girl name but we're having a boy - so now agreeing on a name is impossible!! I've always wanted to name a boy Jack, but DH doesn't want it. He never wanted to have a "junior" but now suddenly he's wanting to name the baby the same first name as him AND his dad - I do NOT want a third boy with the same name!! There are only 2 or 3 names we both sort of like, but we can't seem to commit to any of them. And the one we both like the best (which I suspect we'll end up going with) is what a friend of mine just named her baby boy last winter. She isn't someone I see that often, but I hope she isn't pissed if we use that name too. At this rate, we have to go with whatever we can agree on and that looks like the only one we'll both be happy with. Good God this is hard!!
Re: Deciding on a name may kill us!!
Have you thought of doing a little compromising? Perhaps, you can give a little by continuing the family name (those are not words that usually come out of my mouth!) That is, on the condition that he gives you more freedom to choose the middle name of your liking and then use that name as the everyday name. So for example if the name was Jasper Jack... then you would simply call him Jack, but for all official purposes he would be carrying on the family name.
I have two friends that this has worked well for--one is an adult friend and one used this compromise with her husband. GL
hiiiiiiiii pollykinz! YAY a boy :-)
We struggled with the name thing too. Eventually we put together a list of like 10 names, 5 each that we didn't totally hate... and we stalled until the very last minute! We literally didn't know what we were going to name him until we saw him for the first time, and then Max just fit.
You'll figure it out, but yeah- the name thing is tough! Hope you're doing well :-)
