My friend had her son last night. He came out at 6lbs, 13oz and 20 inches long. Everything seemed alright and then his breathing became very irregular. He was taken by the doctors and is on oxygen and an IV. I know he'll be fine but she is extremely worried. They said he has fluid in his lungs, has anyone heard of this happening and everything been okay?

Prayers are with her.
When my ds was born at 37 weeks they put him on oxygen for a little bit because his lungs were not completely developed yet. It was my understanding that the lungs are one of the last things to develope. Which is why sometimes they give you steroids to help boost the progress if you go in early.
