He's been refusing bottles that have milk older than 1-2 days, frozen or refrigerated. They taste and smell a little funny, kind of like rust or metal, but not like sour cow's milk.
I have over 200 oz frozen, and I hate to throw it away. Could DS get used to the taste if I keep trying to give it to him? What if I mix very small amounts into fresh bm until he gets used to the taste? Do you think this could work?
Re: Could DS get used to the lipase taste in my frozen bm?
I personally think that could work. I'd try it before doing anything drastic like throwing away 200oz or taking time and effort to blanch all new milk.
I had a few bottles of frozen that Harris absolutely refused, but most of it's not too bad and he takes it. I don't know if he started getting used to it or if the taste just isn't that strong. I can still smell the weird smell, but it's not as strong as the bottles that he outright refused.
Hope something works for you. I too, was worried about my 200oz stash when he refused those bottles. Thankfully it's all still there.
If he will not take the frozen BM, have you thought of donating it to a milk bank? You could also do the same to the 40oz that you dump each week.
