For those that have switched childcare...

How long did it take for your little one to adjust to the new place? We are switching grant in a month, so he'll be 15 months old at the time. I'm sure I'm way more nervous than I should be!

  • We switched Alex around 12 months...It really didnt take him much time at all to adjust.  Actually, it depended on who was there in the am when I dropped him off.  He had a few favorite teachers.  So dont stress out, it will take some time but they do adjust!  Good luck!

  • DD's old school closed when she was 14mo (with 2 days notice). She spent a couple weeks at home with me and then on vacation and then was at home for the hurricane closure before starting again at 16mo. I was really worried that not going for over a month would make it even harder. But it went really well.

I'd say that she adjusted to her main teacher in about a week, maybe a little longer. Dropoffs when her main teacher was not there were a lot harder until she got to know the other teachers, which probably took a couple more weeks since she didn't see them as often.

  • We switched from daycare to Psycho around 19 months and she was 110% ok with it.  She went back to daycare a month ago and drop off is still a nightmare, but she stops flipping out when I leave.

  • We had to switch Sarah when she was 17 months old because her daycare closed. This was right around the time Jacob was born.  I was terrified all the changes would scar her.  She did just fine with the new daycare.  Guess change freaked me out more than it did her Wink
