Pregnant after a Loss

Would you?

Move six hours away from your family with a newborn in order to stay home with him/her for at least a year? This is a situation we are faced with. I am having trouble with the decision. It is the moving away from family that is bothering me the most.

Re: Would you?

  • OMGosh that's a tough decision. I am 13 hours away from my family, and it's hard even now before LO gets here.

  • Personally, I think being on your own, especially if it's just temporary, is a GREAT way to really bond as a family.  I'm annoyed that I have so much family around (especially a psycho MIL), because I know there will be constant barging in when all I want is to bond with my husband and baby.  Plus - having that year with your baby is something you might never have again.  I say jump at the chance and embrace it!!

  • I'm 9 hours away from my family and 6 hours away from DH's so we have no family around.  It is awful to be away from them.  It makes it even harder thinking that we will be away from them during this pregnancy and after the baby is born.  We want to move back as soon as possible.

Why do you have to move to be able to stay home?  Good luck with your decision.

  • My sister (who is also my closest friend aside from my dh) lives 20 hours away, so 6 hours would be so GREAT to me.  lol.  perspective I suppose.

Anyway... if that's how I could stay home with my lo... then yes... I would do it.

Ditto this! DH and I are considering a big move next Fall.  We want to have our own life and my ILs are very imposing.

  • If I could stay home... yes.

Well, I am a school teacher and would be moving during the middle of the school year, along with trying to find daycare in a new town, DH and I made the decision that if we moved to this new job that I would stay home for the first year.

Yes I would. Family is great but being able to stay home with my LO would be the best.
  • I would as well. My family is 6 hours away, which is hard and I'd love to have them closer, but I would absolutely love to stay home with my LO.
