I know it'll get better and he'll start picking back up the weight so I'm not too concerned about it (but deep down I kinda am). Anyway, took Colton back for another weight check today.Last Monday he was 3rd %tile and this week he's off the chart. He goes back Wednesday so maybe he'll creep back on the chart. We have a strict feeding schedule that we have to keep-- 4ozs every 3 hrs and he has to take it all whether he takes it orally or by g-tube. The surgeon said all babies lose, but he's lost over 4lbs since 7/15. His weight loss has slowed a lot so I think we're at the point were he may level out and start gaining again. I wish he would start gaining because this getting up every 3hrs at night to feed him is killing me. Good greif, it's like having a newborn again!
Anyway, ECI is supposed to come out this week and do an evaluation to get a dietitian and possibly an SLP. I know things will get better, but it's still a little frustrating when you're doing everything you're supposed to do.
Re: My child fell off the growth chart today
I am so sorry
I hope he gains it back quickly so you don't have to worry.
Poor little Colton.
I hope everything calms down and he gets on an upward trend very soon.
As for ECI, they come and work with Brady once a week and it's made a HUGE difference. We love our therapist!!
So sorry to hear about the weight loss!! And I hope things start looking up soon!
BTW, ECI is wonderful!! My son was with ECI from 15 months until he aged out at 3.
Poor baby, I hope that he will gain his weight back ASAP. How did his b-day pics go.
I don't know all the details of your situation, but #1 fell off the charts and stayed off from somewhere around 6 mo to 2 years. Even know she is petite (she's almost 4 and 30/31 ish lbs). I remember her hitting 20 lbs at 18 months!
#2 is on the very low end of the scale - 5% for weight. Neither my hubby nor I are huge people.
I did want to share as you need to make sure you are looking at ALL the signs, not just a weight. Is your child happy? Meeting milestones? Content? Then my advice is don't worry.
Both my kids crawled and walked early, and once they are on the move, it's MUCH harder for them to keep the weight on.
Neither of my kids were premie's, both born full term and both 100% BF with solids starting at 6 months. Again, make sure to look at more than just a #.
Good luck.
