Mini Pill (Micronor) Question...

My ob wrote me a prescription for the mini-pill, and told me that it would probably increase my supply (I'm a tiny bit low).  Today I talked to an LC and she told me it would without a doubt make my supply drop.  Who do I believe?  What is right?

Thanks!

Re: Mini Pill (Micronor) Question...

  • my OB said it wouldn't affect my supply.  i know lots of ladies take it because it shouldn't affect your supply...but I can't imagine it would reliably increase it otherwise everyone would be on it!

i haven't taken it so i can't comment from personal experience.  i'm afraid of it worsening my already horrible pizzaskin.

  • I believe its the combo-pills that will def make your supply tank (the estrogen from what I remember).  You could just be having an off-day. I took it for awhile but stopped just because I kept forgetting to take it, not b/c of any issues. Call your OB and ask her, I'm sure she'd be happy to help you with this.

  • I've been on the mini pill since DD was 9 weeks and my supply is fine. DD is solely bf and is probably 15 lbs at almost 4 months.
  • I have also been on the mini-pill since 9 weeks. My supply is great, we've been EBF since birth. Leonora is now 16 weeks and is over 15lbs. I hear it is the combo pill (e+p) that lowers the supply.
