On Thrusday night I had to go to emergency becasue of sharp pains on my right side. They had to do an ultrasound to rule out a bunch of stuff including an ectopic pregnancy. I had to have an ultrasound and they could find no evidence of being pregnant (anywhere) but did find a small cyst on my right ovary. The Dr. warned me that it may have been too early to see anything but now I am really scared that our LO may be growing in the wrong place. I have another ultrasound on Wednesday and am hoping to see something then. Has anyone else been in this situation? How did you deal with the waiting?
Re: Trip to Emergency...worried about ectopic...
First of all, I am so sorry for your scare. I had some spotting with my first pg so went to the on-call doctor where they did an u/s. It was too early to see anything, so they thought I would just miscarry naturally. My OB is very proactive & follows betas down to 0. Well when mine shot up from 200 to 749 they had me come in for another u/s where they found the baby in my tube. I had surgery the next morning. It wasn't so bad physically, the emotional was the worst pain. My doctor was able to save my tube. He recommended waiting one cycle to try again, we waited 2 until I felt emotionally ready. We were successful on our first attempt. So far, things are going great!
I hope you're not going through an ectopic, but if you are please don't give up hope for the future. Keep us posted...(((HUGS))))
The cyst is probably the corpus luteum, which is producing your pg hormones right now until the placenta takes over. You may be off in your calculations and not as far along as you think, and it is really early.
Waiting is so hard. Try to distract yourself - go to the movies, get dinner out, etc. Good luck!
It was probably too early but I hope everything is ok. I had 3 u/s before they found my ectopic. I never had any pain or bleeding with it but ended up having surgery. I lost my left tube but didn't lose faith. Now I am doing ok and the LO is in the right place. I'll be thinking of you so let us know how things go Wed.
I had the same thing happen. I think I went in to the hospital at 5w2d (as I recall). All the tech could see was a gestational sac/pseudo gestational sac. At 6w1d, I went for a follow-up u/s and they saw the yolk sac. Finally at 8w1d (we'd been on vacation), we saw baby's heartbeat. I'm now over 24w.
Like your doc said, there's a good chance it was too early to see anything on u/s. I hope it works out for you!
This is what I was thinking!
