Pregnant after a Loss

OB appt update- the good and the eh

Just got back from my monthly OB appt. The good news is the OB measured my belly and it's measuring between 23-24 weeks, so that is great! We also listened to our LO's h/b on the doppler and it was great- in the 150's! Also, I asked her if I was going to get another sono and she said she'll do one next time I come in- I made my appt in 3 weeks so yay we get to see our little girl again!

The eh news is that my b/p has always been around 126/60 when I go to the doctor's (prob nerves bc it's always lower at home)- today it was 130/70 and my OB wants to err on the safe side, so I have to do the 24 hr urine collection tomorrow...boo! Has anyone had to do this? I know I should be happy that she is just being cautious, but it makes me nervous too. My urine has always been clean (no protein) so she said she's just doing it to get a baseline. Ughh, why can't pg be easy?

  • Mine is always lower at home too. My OB tends to check mine now after he measures me & I hear my LO's heartbeat, it's always lower then beforehand :)

  • I'm sorry, I hope everything tomorrow looks good. I think pp's suggestion of having them take it after you hear the heartbeat is a good one - we all get nervous when we go to the dr. so it might make it higher until you know all is well. GL tomorrow!
  • Ugh I pray this doesn't happen to me! I keep track of my BP at home and it's always like 118/68 give or take a few numbers. At the drs last time it was 127/82. I def have white coat syndrome. I know it's annoying to do the collection but you'll be glad you did to have that piece of mind everything is ok. GL!!!

  • GL with tomorrows collection it is a PITA but it is good the doc is being cautious.  Pre-E is nothing to ignore.  I did a collection really early this pregnancy for a baseline and my BP has been up this weekend even at home so I was in for an extra doctors appointment this morning and have a regular appointment on Wednesday.  If BP is still up I will probably be doing another 24 hour collection, always better to be safe than sorry.

  • It sounds like a great appt. overall.  Plus your bp is only slightly elevated. It seems like it's just for a baseline and for an overly cautious doctor, which is a great thing!

  • I'm crossing my fingers that it all goes well with the urine test.  I had high blood pressure with Laney and a nurse recommended this time that I lie down for an hour every afternoon.  She said it has really helped a lot of their patients.
  • yeah I agree with the after the heartbeat suggestion. that is a really good idea. I am glad that everything else went really well though!!!
