Question: Meds stopping at 32 wks?

Out of curiosity did they stop your PTL meds at 32 wks?  Right now I am on Mag, Terb, and occasionally other things.  The nurses said at 32 wks they often stop you and I saw that in another post.  This scares me, I hate all these things but I want my babies as cooked as possible!

I was never on any PTL meds and I am not an expert at all but from what I've read, it can become dangerous to your health.

My peri had indicated that  he was going to have to stop my meds at 32 weeks b/c I was on the max dose, I know there was another reason, but I don't remember...and I didn't make it to 32 weeks anyways.

I was told if I went into preterm labor again but after 34 weeks that they would not stop it.  I was told at my last peri appointment when I was 34w2d to stop taking procardia at home to stop contractions.

I was taken off of procardia & terb at 36 weeks and I went into labor 3 days later. Every doctor & hospital are different, I was on bedrest til 36 weeks and then he still didn't want me up and about too much.

I need to talk with my doctor more (now that I am in the hospital that man darts in and out faster than a flash of lightning)... I'm thinking from your responses they are mainly talking about the Mag.  Right now everyone (doc, nurses, etc) are just trying to keep me focused on making it to 32 mark, but I truly am hoping to go much further!

I was stopped at 34 weeks.  My OB would have waited until 36 weeks but I was having some "interesting" heart reactions to the meds, at the lowest dose.  34 weeks was when they considered the risks to my heart to be greater than the risks of the babies being born early.

woa- thats two weeks earlier than they stopped mine. i would beg for 2 more weeks!!! not to scare you, but i would be scared too!!!

I never had PTL either, but they did tell me that they wouldn't stop my labor after 34 weeks. 

I thought that they should at least try for 36 if the the babies weren't in danger, but that is how they do things with my practice/hospital.

If you don't already know I would ask them what to expect and what is going to happen.  I know that each pregnancy is different and such, but they can at least give you an idea.

I was also told that if I went into PTL or was due to deliver early a NICU doctor would come talk to me prior to delivery.  Perhaps you can ask that of them now.

I went into PTL at 32 weeks.  They put me on terb right away for 2-3 days and after that they put me on procardia until I had the boys at 34 weeks
