But I have totally gone overboard with Sophia's first birthday. The invite list is out of control and I have spent way more money then I promised myself I would.
But I am having a hard time feeling bad about it.
I know my husband thinks I am nuts and I am sure those around me are thinking it too.
I wasn't like this with my SD but I know her mother was. ![]()
Re: I swore I wouldn't do it
Oh, I so know where you are! I have B's invite list down to 35 or so (from 50 plus), and we're trying to have it at our house???
Then the invites themselves (adorable and pricy), plus the cute matching plates, cups, napkins, banners, balloons, etc... that's $100 just there and we haven't even gotten to the food/alcohol yet.
FWIW, the party is more for you than your sweet baby girl... at least that's what I've been told. Not sure that makes it any better.
Her birthday is only once a year, at least that's what I tell myself! ?Every year so far I have spent an easy $300 on Isabelle's birthday. ?The cake alone is typically $40, decorations $100, food & alcohol & then pictures are also included in the $300, pictures are typically $100!
Michelle?
I can totally relate to this! I wanted simple with a limited guest list. I did keep it to just close family and friends, but we overshot the budget bigtime and had a packed house. I bought way too many decorations, had no remorse over spending on the cake and food, and presents were not even included in the party budgeting. She didn't wear her party dress. I opted for the cute ladybug dress she had instead just to keep with the theme. We had a great time, have hundreds of great photos taken by several people (it looks like tha paparazzi was there in the video with all of the flashes
)
What matters most is the memory you create. Have fun! I can't wait to see your pics.
