Pregnant after a Loss

So stressful!!

I just started really thinking about daycare options yesterday.  I'm seriously freaking out about it.  I just need someone to watch my baby from 2pm - 5 or 6pm to cover the overlap between my shift starting and DH's shift ending.  It's so hard to find something like that!  I'm pretty sure I'll have to do some small in-home thing or a SAHM looking for extra income...but where do I even begin looking for something like that?!  I wish that I had family nearby...wouldn't that be a perfect job for a grandparent?  Yeah, no such luck here.  Then there's the whole concept of turning my baby over to the care of someone else which literally makes me cry whenever I think about it.

I need a hug Crying (and maybe some advice would be nice too)

Re: So stressful!!

  • Check with your local elementary school secretary or church.  Secretaries always know the goos stuff.  Sorry it's so stressful!

I am sorry this is so stressful for you. Can you contact the board of child care minders for your area and ask them for suggestions? Or contact a main child care place and ask them for a reference?

It will sort itself out and you will find someone, just might have to get a little creative. Then you can deal with the feelings of having to actually leave your little man there.

  • I don't have any advice.  I just wanted to give you ((HUGS))
  • stalk a preschool/daycare and find one of the workers who leaves before 4 to see if they want some extra money on the side....lol

  • I know exactly what you mean.  I get home around 4 and DH leaves for work at 2:45.  It would be nice to have someone watch LO from 2-5, but there aren't many options here either.  I was obsessed last time I was pg and called a bunch of places.  Both of our families are an hour to 2 hours away.

What about craigs list or local churches?  Maybe they have a list of people looking to do what you're talking about?  I haven't thought about it much since the last time I was pg.

    Oh, and here's a (((HUG)))

  • Are you in the city or country?  If you're in the city you should be able to contact a childcare (nanny) service and see if they can help you.  My cousin lives in California and she hires a nanny to come for very few hours/week.  It's a college student that is already pre-screened and trained by the service.  Maybe something you can look in to... plus they would be in your home.  Can we say "nanny cam"? LOL>
  • Try Googling Kansas Child Care Resource and Referral, they should have a data base will all sorts of day care providers and their hours and rates and if they are registered with the state, etc.

  • Awww Kathy I am so sorry!  I know this is really stressing you out!  I second checking into churches, yours and others!  Ours has a giant board where people can write down different needs/wants and services/items, kind of like an interchurch Craig's List.  You would obviously want to check them out, but it might be a good place to start!  ((hugs))
