UGH...my Dr's office just called to tell me that I failed the 2nd tri 1 hour glucose test, so now I have to do the 3 hour. Did anyone else fail and if so, did you fail the 3 hour too?
I am soooooooooooo sorry you failed:( I failed 1 hour and took the 3 hour on Friday....except that 1.5 hours into, I threw up:( I was able to give the initial draw and the 1 hour fasting so md said to send it but who knows, I may have to repeat it again. Good luck. I hope everything goes ok for you.
On a happier note....I know a lot of people who take 3 hour and pass:)
I had to do it at 20 weeks because I have PCOS. I failed the one hour miserably. I went and took the fasting 3 hour and passed all four blood draws! I won't lie, it was boring, my arms are bruised and the glucose drink tastes worse on an empty stomach, but I passed!! I have known at least 3 other people who failed the one hour and passed the 3 hour. Just count yourself lucky you only get it once. I get to go through it all again at 28 weeks!

I failed both my 1 hour and 3 hour. ?Believe it or not, the 3 hour is not that bad (and I'm terrified of getting my blood drawn). ?It's just boring and inconvenient to have to go do. ?I had my husband come with me so I had someone to talk to and we spent the time talking about baby stuff and it went by fast.
One note, my doc told me to "load up" on carbs before I went for 3 hr. ?Not sure if your doc told you the same thing or not, but that is really misleading. ?According to the paperwork they sent me, you need 150mg a day of carbs. ?What they neglected to tell me is that the average person, with the way most people eat, get 200-300 mg a day on their own without even trying. ?I "loaded" up before I went and then completely bombed my test. (What is even funnier is that they've got me testing and eating for gestational diabetes now and my numbers are coming out just above being hypeglycemic! ?They can't seem to make up their mind what I really am). ?Moral of the story-make sure you get clear direction from the doctors or nurses before taking the test and you will be just fine.
I failed the one hour, but it was at 4 in the afternoon after eating all day and it was only 5 points high. Then at the 3 hour I had one reading above where it needed to be, so they have diagnosed me with GD. I have been checking my sugar all weekend and it has not gotten above 78, but I still have to go to the diabetes clinic today and be "treated."

I thought if only one reading was "too high" that the standard was to repeat the test, not provoke a diagnosis.
I did and so did my sister-in-law and 2 of my friends. We ALL passed the 3 hour test! Don't worry, I read that 85% of women who fail the 1 hour test do not have GD.
Good Luck!
